We’ve heard of smuggling all kinds of things. People try to get everything from illegal substances, to alcohol, to actual human beings across borders but a recent case proved once and for all that we hadn’t heard about every type of smuggling, at least not yet.
A few weeks ago, two Seattle men spent more than two hours in a detention centre at the Canadian border after being caught trying to illegally smuggle...some chocolate over the border.
Brandon Loo and Christopher Sweeney claim they were just bringing a bunch of Kinder Surprise eggs back home for some friends but the zealous border agents who searched their car said that the candies were illegal in the US.

Not illegal because they're so delicious but rather because the small plastic toys in the middle of the eggs represent a choking hazard for children. Importing the chocolate treats can reportedly result in a big fine.
After a lot of wasted time, the men were let off with a warning.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service didn't comment on the story but the Agency has said that over 60,000 Kinder eggs were seized from travellers in 2011.
That's a lot of delicious treats for a few border agents to eat!
