Till Cats Do Us Part

Most married guys at some point or other find themselves in the position of having to "sleep in the doghouse." But it's pretty darn rare that a woman sends her husband to sleep in the cathouse.

Nevertheless, that's exactly what happened to an Israeli man when his wife adopted no fewer than 550 cats.

According to an article in the Times of Israel, the man—who had never been much of a kitty lover to begin with—was subjected to relentless psychological warfare at the hands (err...paws) of the fiendish feline army. There were so many cats that they blocked his path whenever he needed to use the restroom. If he tried to eat, the cats would steal the food off his plate.

He finally filed for divorce, complaining to the Rabbinical Court in Beersheeba that he couldn't even sleep in his own bed because it was covered at all times by a seething blanket of slumbering kitties—and for every cat he moved, three more jumped up to take its place.

Perplexed and dismayed by the bizarre situation, the Rabbinical Court asked the couple to attempt reconciliation. The wife, however, ultimately found herself unable to give up so much as a single cat, and the couple parted ways.

But it was probably for the best. A man, after all, has but one life to live...while 550 cats, altogether, have 4,950.

No contest, really.
